Do you remember Rock N Roll radio?

We at whiteboydancefloor are all for guilty musical pleasures, but this is one I dont like to admit to. But this one isnt one in the OMG indie kids like Kelly Clarkson sort of way, its more like OMG this band is my time machine.

It's astonishing how a band can take you back to a time of your life, and make you feel like it was forever and yesterday simultaenously. Even if 3 or 4 years ago is where a song takes you, its profound how it can be your own personal DeLorean from Back To The Future.

The band i am talking about is The Ataris. Admittedly, they are terrible. Musically uninspired and lyrically as poetic as a house brick. But for some emo-ish reason, they always got me through my middle-adolescent mopeing. Thematically they rang true, with the subtle as a sledgehammer 'Giving Up On Love' panning the L word, 'Bad Case Of Broken Heart' in which Kris Roe intones 'The radio plays a love song/i smashed my fist right through the dial', and 'In This Diary' becoming a graduation anthem for me.

They are releasing a new album soon, and its shaping up to be an absolute wank-fest. Stream it here if you actually care.

I want to know, what bands take you guys back to a certain time in your life?
