What better what to start this post than with the near death of a member of the Kaiser chiefs. In another effort to beat up stupid journalistic hyperbole, their have been claims that lead singer of the Kaiser cheifs used his signatured air jump to avoid being run over by a car. Well now we know that everyone in the music world is short of real news. Clearly... the car still hit him and most cases when someone is hit by a car they end up on the windshield or 50 metres in the other direction not underneath so this dickhead from the Kaiser wanks is not someone we should be applauding for effective application of rock n roll moves. If it were Mick Jagger, he would have able to jump to the next street.

My advice Mr Ricky Wilson... next time i try to run you over, dont make me have to send you the bill for my windsheild, just take it like the bitch you are.

Now, Whiteboydancefloor is yet to have really given some local shout outs to bands which shaped many of our saturday nights! and so without further bullshit, here we go!!!




Faux Pas are local rockers hailing from the suburb of St Clair... basically the New York or London of Australia. They burst into local ears with the infectiously sing-a-long-able "D.M.Y" and since then, it has been nothing but hits and undoubtably some of the best between-song-banter i have ever experienced in my life. Never before has Steve Waugh had more songs dedicated to him in one set by any band before.

Arguably taking the no-frills approach Faux Pas don't concern themselves with hiding behind effects or preset ideas on what should be "pas worthy music" the band has enabled themselves to keep their signature sound while progressing into adding at time more serious subject matter and rip-roaring guitar solos. I suppose the only limits one could put on this rock / punk odyssey is their imagination.

Recently the band have been credited with some attention from Triple J check out what they have to offer on their myspace page.



Another of the mercurial Penrith alumni is the tour de force than is Lucretia. Presenting some of the most musically attuned heavy rock out there, it has been Lucretia's attention to melody, detail aswell as hard rock that has seen their music take them places.

Supporting such Australian hard rockers as The Butterfly Effect, Tourettes & Frankenbok, this war machine was in full flight until the announcement that irreplacable drummer Shane Dwyer was departing to Ireland for atleast a year.

As such while now on Hiatus, the band's performance at the Official Whiteboydancefloor Launch Party reminded everyone that these guys are not anywhere near finished. Presenting two new songs for the party-goers including the immortal "whiteboydancefloor" song which spawned the new wbdf slogan "come lose it all, on the whiteboydancefloor" the band demonstrated an amazing grasp of not just heavy rock, but music as an art form.

Lucretia will never be finished... unless you like tried to kill one of them like I tried to with the Kaiser Cheifs.

While they have recorded and written almost a dozen new songs since... check out one of their greatest and most venomous songs "Rhythm Keeper" which for your information spurred a long term riff between faux pas and lucretia at mp3.com.au.

Now the best of mates and only concerned with sticking together in this emo filled world... it's clear to say with lucretia on hiatus and Faux Pas the only band shoving it to all that emo shit, we can thank such bands for ensuring all the youth doesn't fall down that mascara-infused world.



Now on a completely different tangent... some fashionablely valuable news for you all. Upon a chance visit with good friend Mr Nathan Mattos, I discovered owns his own clothing label. Not only that, it's fucking good.

Presenting us all with some very unique and in one case, politically charged sentiments, Model Citizen Clothing gives some fantastic variation and difference to the usual bullshit we're offered.
The unique designs seem to follow an urban / graffiti visual paradigm and allow simplistic black and white backgrounds the chance to offset their impressive designs.

Now while im keeping with fashion... it seems Whiteboydancefloor are unknowingly at the forfront of a craze sweeping not just the modular-trendy fashionables, but every party goer accross the sydney.

What I am talking about is glow stick glasses which i have decided to call Glow Goggles!!!

While you can say to me oww they've been around for years, well..you can go f-yourself... not like this they havent. As you stream accross the world of myspace and view everyones images taken on their trendy city friday and saturday nights, slowly but surely, a trendy crowd of glow stick sunny wearing faithful are emerging.

Let me just finish by saying. Is this a bad thing? Hell No its not!!! Bring on the glow stick glasses... they may be the other good thing that gets done with glow sticks...bro. What does surprise me is that Van She weren't first on the band wagon.

Well I do... and what an incredibly under rated talent that Australia never fully appreciated. With hit songs like frontier psychatrist and since i left you they were truely a fantastic user of the sample and produced some supremely atmospheric music.
