It was a momentus and long built up occassion. The 20th of May 2006 was hyped up as a night of music, dancing, drinking and celebrities. It was a strictly invite only affair which saw only the finest of Whiteboydancefloor bourgeoisie attend the evening.
Everything was minorly behind schedule as a short and swift down pour of rain attempted to rain on the Whiteboydancefloor parade. Thanks to the efforts of the Lucretia troops and Whiteboydancefloor event manager Paul English, no amount of rain was going to stop this hootinanny from pressing on.
The dancefloor read, the band sound checked and ready, Dj Albert ready, music a lightly playing as the guest began to enter. All in all, the timing was not too badly off.
When 7:30 came around, The band were onstage and to the theme of the Terminator, they strutted onto the stage for the last time. This was the final horay for Lucretia, for now atleast. With Drummer Shane Dwyer having his bags packed for Ireland it seemed fitting that he be the one to begin the set with a frantically brutal drum intro to "Rhythm Keeper". As former Canterbury Bulldogs hooker Jason Hetherington once said, "The way he's kicking, you'd hate to be his dog". The rest of the band then entrenced to loud applause and it was time for an hour and a half of viciously uncompromising heavy rock.
In Keith Richards-espue fashion, lead shredder Luke Connolly was sporting a cigarette in the end of his guitar and a 3metre long mullet which he had grown overnight thanks to pantene pro-V and eating his bread crusts . Dayve (affectionately known by his t-shirt as Apple Dayve) was fruitfully citric in his lightning orange shirt and John lennon glasses, he need not have sung a note and you'd know he was the frontman of the war machine. Bassman Navman displaying a trademark homeless persona with beanie and long wild hair was more destructively devasting than ever in his bass playing career, frequently taking his bass chops into the crowd and braving the onslaught of flying kicks, Navman's blatant disregard for his own safety proved he wasnt concerned about dying if it had to come to that!
Unfortunately, rhythm guitarist Peter Ross was unable to make the final gig for Lucretia. However, John Farnham amazingly was available and in one of the most insanely rock and roll stories of Whiteboydancefloor history, John Farnham between fighting off womens pantys filled in for Peter Ross with great ease. Who would of thought... John Farnham and Lucretia would end it all together.
What was not expected was the surprise attendence of Western Sydney stalwart rockers Faux Pas who arrived at the 11th hour of Lucretia's set. Jordan, Kristian & Michael were fantastic sports and the music of Faux Pas will be featured on this very blogspot in the comming weeks. Ofcourse a spot on a future Whiteboydancefloor party is also not off the agenda!
Without doubt the highlight of the night was the new song from Lucretia entitled "Whiteboydancefloor". It was beyond incredible to have the lads produce a song especially for the night and we're truely grateful for such an amazingly good song. I am proud to announce that this song has produced the new Whiteboydancefloor slogan which can be viewed at the bottom of this very long blog.
Next up, Dj Albert.
I need not say too much about this man as everyone else will say it for me. Dj Albert's two sets at the Whiteboydancefloor party was unmistakably mercurial. His song selection and Dj'ing capabilities meant that the dancefloor never had a point where it was not completely packed. Not being well known in Dj'ing circles, the crowd was stunned into a frenzy of bumping and grinding.
Following Albert was the Whiteboydancefloor crew. Needless to say Albert was an incredibly hard act to follow and it showed. While the dancefloor began to erupt mid set when our Love Shack - Toxic mix was dropped and followed by Easy Love by MSTRKRFT it was difficult to match the efforts of the master Dj Albert.
Special Mention must go to some very important people who made this night possible.
- Paul & Mary for their support, supplying of a venue and massive amount of help in making it all happen.
- Dave & Jackie for the mammoth amounts of food and drinks.
- Our incredibly good looking bar girls Claire & Sarah
- Lucretia & Dj Albert for performing on the night virtually free.
- Shane Dwyer particularly for his organising of the PA system.
- Amanda Mayhew for her crazy fluro inspired Umbrellas which not only served artistic purposes but also lifesavers when the rain hit all of the sudden!
- Head of security Christopher Eagleton. So dedicated that he actually slept out the front the whole night to ensure safety was maintained... or you could also say he passed out in his car. Either way.
-All those who dressed up, help set up and who attended the event.
- Anyone I've missed, im sorry I couldn't remember everyone.
- And finally a big thankyou to Jason Rau, not only for his non stop dancing but for the photography work which will be featured on the site very very soon. This man has not only taken 40+ pictures for you all to view, but created a customized Whiteboydancefloor photo gallery which you will all see once server issues have been rectified.
All in all, what has come out of this is one hell of a launch party featuring the ever popular Whiteboydancefloor patented / stolen cocktail California sunrise. In response to the glowing remarks of those who attended, it appears that the next Whiteboydancefloor party may be as early as Summer 06!
This week aswell as featuring many great artists, we shall also be revealing the Whiteboydancefloor Launch Party Photo Gallery designed by Jason Rau, Giving you the photos of many other guests with Cameras, Revealing some unique items left behind from the party and displaying rare Lucretia artifacts.
With a new blog design comming soon, we invte you to...
