Finally the time has come, the first line up announcement for Australia's biggest (biggest doesn't mean best) music festival, the Big Day Out. Here we go...
Tool
Jet
Muse
Violent Femmes
The Killers
Scribe
Spank Rock (Yessssssss)
Peaches
My Chemical Romance
Eskimo Joe
The Herd
The Sleepy Jackson
The Spazzys
Yeah just as we thought, so far, so shit. Spank Rock and Peaches are two acts I will be dying to see, as well as Tool of course. But Jet? Didn't Eskimo Joe play last year? And do The Spazzys still exist? Violent Femmes, aren't they so 1980-whatever? MCR will bring the wrist slicers out of the closet. WTF? Sydney date is not on Australia Day and the price goes up again? I am buoyed by the fact that this is only announcement #1, so we shall wait and see if it improves. Nice Guns n' Roses rumour LOL.

yeh im sure that line up would be more exciting if it was 2004.
Yeah pretty average hey? I much preferred this years so far.
There are so many groups that I couldn't give a shit about seeing.
i think the very nature of the bdo breeds mediocrity. ultimately they are catering for a broad audience, and among audience are the meatheads who like the crap and the more discerning snobs who prefer the lesser known, quality acts. so a line up of mixed quality is pretty much assured every year, unlike a festival such as say field day, which caters to on the whole one type of audience, where they tailor the line up to suit with mostly quality acts to appeal to the majority. sorry im drunk so im just rambling but yeah thats my two cents goodnight peace and love
a vast improvement! it'll do for now, not necessarily the most mind blowing line up but at the same time, not much i particularly dislike either- im prepared to suffer the cost of a mediocre day for the spiritual enlightenment Muse and Tool will bring in the night... although it has to be said, MCR+Tool= Festival of the wankers in terms of audience..
also- boo to Sydney show on the 25th, boo to no alternative ticket outlets (excepting red eye) and boo to Ticketmaster! I have very little faith in their online ticketing schemes!
lees and west have shown great arrogance here re:the ticketing
they know we will go to the bdo no matter what beacause its the bdo, so they jack up the price again (the australian dollar is pretty strong right now so the cost of getting bands here would be cheaper compared to last year, plus inflation is only very small meaning there is no justification for another price rise, and i dont want to hear them crying poor) and it looks as though they may have whored themselves out to ticketmaster in some exclusivity contract to supply tickets and restrict sale through indie music stores, which is where i and most punters have been buying their tickets since day 1. ill be paying around 20 dollars more for my 2007 ticket than my 2004 ticket, and i saw metallica that year.
poor form
im considering not going. might aswell save my money and put on a january whiteboydancefloor party. atleast you know we wont disappoint
