Hello to everyone out there in the blogosphere,
It has indeed been a very long time, probably too long from my side of things. I hope this year is going to be far more productive than the tail end of last year. With a new job and the settling in period well and truely finished it is time for us to get into the music.
But not today. Think of today as a touching base exercise.
Last year for me was a fairly dull year from where I stood, what stood out did so even more in comparison to its counterparts. Unfortunately for everyong Muscles or Battles there was a new Bon Jovi album or a Fergie single. I'm sure many of you would just say I wasn't looking hard enough but I mean really overall the year was fairly uninspiring.
For every Daft Punk concert there was yet another Big Day Out sprinkled with only a small amount of quality which you really had to search for. On the topic of Big Day Out 2008, well I guess it is something to do and it does serve as a handy sampler plate.
Rage Against the Machine were one dimensional and a carbon copy of their cds, I proudly left to watch the wonders of LCD Soundsystem, Grafton Primary were smashing and Battles were mind boggling (literally).
So while I'll keep it short, I hope for 2008 that we have some quality releases from the likes of Cut Copy, Van She Tech, The Presets and for me personally I'll hold out another yet for another AC/DC album which I can "rock" out too with the other labourer scum whom I work with. And finally, bring on the surprises, the acts out of no where that set the world on fire!
Death to 50 Cent, Give Rise to Spank Rock.
We can only dream.
Looking forward to the year ahead my good people!
Love you all
