Technology, Me & The Sea

I've always dream of what it would be like to enjoy the simple life. To trade in the rat race and head toward a more slower paced laid back existence. The setting for Augie March's latest video "Pennywhistle" is for me what dreams are made of. Unfortunately the clip doesn't involve a bitch either side of me and a cuban cigar but thats another dream for another day (perhaps another blog).

Ok so by now you've already taken off for rolling dunes and breezy sundays right? If not stay with me. You get out your fishing rod (carved of wood ofcourse), you pack a thermos of coffee, tip out the coffee you accidently made and refill with Jamisons. Then you throw on your favourite beanie and knitted sweater maybe shove a few sandwiches in your bag and you head to the beach. Sit and fish your life away in sweet serenity.

Now enter technology.

So before you set off on your endless fishing trip through sleepy seaside towns, you've gone online the night before and read a shit blog you wished you'd never bothered reading and should of just hype machined what you needed. Upon watching the film clip this tosser has posted, you do what you should have done originally and hype machined the mp3, download it, add to the ipod and set yourself up for a life away fishing and listening to ultimate tunes.

Augie March's latest fits so perfectly into this recipe for heaven and if your lucky like me, you'll have an ipod that plays videos (or you'll just be a bastard and have an Iphone that does it all) and you'll watch this clip while you wait for that never arriving first bite. Hell you even throw on "one crowded hour" for good measure because you remember you stole that off a good blog like Sandwich Club or WhotheHell last year.

The art of fishing is not to catch a brace or two for a friends breakfast but to waste your days away in blissful irrelevance.

Augie March's latest track is really good by the way and their latest album Watch Me Disappear is out 11th October.

The Geeks Were Right

Arguably you could be forgiven if you thought that The Faint was the next new sound to hit your ears. . Without trying to be disrespectful to such an accomplished outfit, it isn't difficult to group their style of music alongside many of the other flash in the pan acts going round right now. I'm sure when they hit the music world some years ago no one would have ever given a hope of obtaining the fan base and longevity that they have achieved.

The Faint have been doing this for over a decade and consistently they seem to deliver with more volume and quality than many of their other counter parts. These guys were making dance with guitars while Franz Ferdinand and friends were still perfecting haircuts. With tracks as classic as Glass Danse, I Disappear and now The Geeks Were Right, it's not hard to see why they have achieved what they have.

Their latest effort entitled Fasciination which features The Geeks were Right is out now and they are briefly touring the lovely shores of Australia end of September, dates below.

24th Sept: The Zoo, Brisbane
25th Sept: The Metro, Sydney
26th Sept: Prince of Wales, Melbourne

Bloggers Delight

Bloggers Delight is an exciting event that has been organised by the genius of Jerry Soer from Whothehell.net and let's face it, without having to get my knee pads out and service the entire Whothehell.net office with my mouth, there isn't much worthwhile about emerging live music that Jerry doesn't have something to do with.

The line up speaks for itself and I have absolutely no doubts Lara Bingle will be there walking round in a bikini asking everyone where the bloody hell they've been. I'm particularly looking at all you uni kids to get out there because it's going to be roofus. It's my new hip word... spread it like wildfire.

Some of the whiteboydancefloor crew should be down there performing our best pasty white dance moves for all to see. I myself shant be making the trek due to my status as a scum factory worker, meaning I work while the party in question is going down. However I haven't ruled out going on 'hiatus'.

If Bird Automatic doesn't get you there, I don't know what will.

Lara Bingle not included.
For more information be sure to read the PDS.
PDS also not available.

whiteboy party, Barbados Salami division.

I Heard She Broke Your Heart Again

By far Heartbreaker is my favourite Metronomy song. Jupiter turns the original into a disco masterpiece which when dropped will send the dance floor into a dancing frenzy. Make sure you check out Jupiter’s MySpace for some fantastic original material!
