Got To Get You Into My Life

Today (the 9th of September) marks the day that EMI release the entire remastered catalogue of The Beatles, with both the original mono versions of the first 10 Beatles albums, up through The Beatles (The White Album), in addition to the all-stereo versions. This will allow listeners to hear intricacies of the songs that weren't able to be picked up with previous recordings. Maybe you'll even be able to hear Lennon be a disagreeable twat and ignoring his son Julian whilst he indulged in self righteousness with Yoko. Lennon bashing aside (luckily he was such an amazing song writer), it will be interesting to see whether people will prefer hearing how it was meant to sound or nostalgically hold onto their love of the rawer original recording.

Being yet another one of those of kids that grew up on the multi-genre, genius that is The Beatles, i'm pretty stoked to hear what it's going to sound like. Although I don't know if my crappy lap top memory can deal with more Beatles albums. At last count I had about 21 Beatles albums, including box sets and any other kind of re-release variation you could think of. Add that to the five vinyls sitting in my room and the small shrine on my wall and you might say I have post-Beatle-mania, or maybe i'm just living in the past.

Also coming out today is The Beatles: Rockband. Which allows the gamer to play any Beatle and go through their back catalogue. This may even inspire your parents to pick up the guitar controller. Apparently it's basically the same game play as all the rest of the franchise but how could you resist with songs ranging from 'I Am The Walrus' to 'I Saw Her Standing There'.

Now all I need is a time machine so I can see them live and pronounce my love for George Harrison. What a dreamboat.
