As i start this post it is just approaching midday Sydney time which means that Playground Weekender is readying to open their gates to the masses of classy festival fans ready to enjoy great music in the lap of luxury. Unfortunautely due to my status as both pathetic uni student and hopeless weekend worker, I myself was unable to make Sydney's premiere festival this year and the more I found out about the line up and extra attractions on offer, the more I bubbled with jealousy... since my last attendence two or so years ago, this festival has just grown better and better. I remember my last time going I was so keen on going that I lied to work about going on a church camp just to get there... with age I think I've become more of a pussy.
So with Dayve and Dean busy gigging, Chris hitting some (or getting hit for) some sixes on the cricket pitch, Clint parading his sexy ass around the clubhouse at golf and Nancy living it up in Melbourne, none of the conventional whiteboydancefloor crew were available. What to do?
Well I made an executive decision and whiteboydancefloor has sent two incredibly good looking but slightly crazy babes down to Del Rio to cover all the action. Mel & Tara are our whitegirls at ground level and their insatiable appetite for festivals and live music. With a C.V that includes touring the world and attending festivals as big as Glastonbury thus making them highly experienced festival campers, combined that with backgrounds in journalism and photography it made this gruesome twosome the perfect couple to cover Playground Weekender for whiteboydancefloor.
These two are the kind of trouble makers you see in the background of an episode of Entourage. You know, the kind of people who end up popping up at exclusive after parties and on the list only events purely by enjoying the moment. While everyone else will sign up for their exclusive Lupe Fiasco interview, these two will probably end up eating dinner with him, then recreate an Ok Go film clip and become new members of the Polyphonic Spree... So let's hope they get whiteboydancefloor the headlines for all the right reasons :-S
If the technology works out we will be having live twittering all through the long weekender and of course an indepth review of the whole event afterwards.
For those already on their way, you lucky bastards and for all those leaving a little later, you lucky bastards. For others not attending like myself and don't have a good excuse, shame on you!
