Splendour Pick #1: Alberta Cross

I've got a million reviews I probably should be finishing but I can't resist a continuation of the love-in over Splendour in the Grass. Sometimes even armchair know-it-alls like myself have to put negativity toward life to one side and get on a good thing.

Alberta Cross are a band I've blogged about on a previous occasion and while I cannot for the life of me find the link to the post, but take my word for it. "Broken Side of Time" cut the mustard as a superb hidden gem in my record collection and I think what I love most is that you can throw it in the CD player to suit different moods with the exact same release, the skill is being uplifting and moving simultaneously. I remember when I received "Broken Side of Time" I was yearning for the sweet crunch of some guitar and Alberta Cross filled my cup.

Not that any human being would ever want to hear it but it's the country infused rock n roll of bands like Alberta Cross that I enjoy strumming along to poorly and when the CD is up loud enough I crackle along with my yet to properly break vocal chords and fool myself into being a bedroom rockstar.

Rather than a youtube of me singing along in bedroom with an old 95/96 Inter Milan jersey (stained with lasanga), for you I offer up the new video for the track "Old Man Chicago".

Alberta Cross will be playing Splendour in the Grass 2010 and I am certain photographers are going to have a field day with these guys if the youtubes I've seen are anything to go by.

Oww and ladies, these guys have million times better church boy style than those KOL hacks.
