Splendour Pick #4: Ernest Ellis

Splendour in the Grass 2010 is still a few months away and for those not lucky enough to be going this post will seem like a complete tease.

Here's another must see at the event (there are a lot).

Ernest Ellis should be well known to anyone who listens to Triple J as I'm sure they are going bananas over this guy. Anyone who reads this blog will be aware I'm an AM radio man but I know Ernest Ellis ticks all the JJJ boxes.

In all honestly I wouldn't put the new track "Loveless" in the same category as I would "Waiting for the Cold" but I would certainly say Erny's ability to create a gloriously satisfying anti climax is evident in "Loveless". He's one of those musicians that you never think gets out of second gear but even meandering in first he is quite a delight.

I'm not one who embraces the Aussie country / bush scene type video very much as I think lazy scumbags like Shannon Noll lean on it far too heavily. But visually I absolutely love this clip. The morning mist rolling in over the morning reminds me of driving to work in the AM hours listening to Alan Jones when I was out at Richmond (the NSW one).

"Loveless" will be on EE's debut album titled "Hunting" out June through Dew Process
