New Music Saturday

I realise I've titled the post New Music Saturday... this won't catch on or be repeated. I've got loads of great tunes for you.

Youtube: Little Red - Rock It

Ok so Channel [V] have probably already got this as their Ripe Clip Of the Week but don't let that discourage you. This was one of the new ones Little Red played at Splendour and it was a huge success. New content is always risky at festivals but everyone was boppin' and swayin'. Give it a look, not hard to see why.

Soundcloud: Passenger - Shape of Love (feat. Boy & Bear)

Lately I've been getting into Boy & Bear since my Splendour Bender and when I noticed Passenger had done a track with them it immediately made me more inclined to listen. I'm in the processes of diggin' the album Flight Of The Crow which is Passenger's second album of 2010. I may review it soon. For now I can tell you this track is lovely. Whenever I hear the bopping twang of the banjo, I am certain the sun is firmly shining on me. This is what Josh Pyke could sound like if he discovered some talent. I'd happily let Passenger tell me a story any day.

Myspace: Passenger

Flight Of The Crow is out 24th September through Intertia.

Soundcloud: Vacations - Robots

A track to soften even the toughest mechanical being, as it marches to the evenly paced drum beat "Robots" never really takes off but doesn't hold back from endearing itself to you. This firmly fits into the no frills section of your supermarket, free of fancy packaging (a.k.a bullshit). The confused fuzz of the rhythm guitar is chopped up by the lead with great execution and the slow crawl has me swaying aimlessly from side to side. I think I love this the most because it's very Sydney a few years ago before we were overrun with 80's electro bullshit. Only five shows into what will be a very successful ride.

Youtube: Tokyo Police Club - Wait Up (Boots Of Danger)

Tokyo Police Club are a band I've followed for many years now, one of the first albums I reviewed from memory was from these guys. They have an insatiable desire for recording music, which is fine with me. "Wait Up (Boots Of Danger)" is off their forthcoming release Champ. Not that you'll probably care but the clip has loads of dogs running riot and it aptly matches the song. Some sho-sho-ba-doos always get a tick from me.

Champ is out 20th September through Dew Process.

Youtube Link: Katy Perry - Teenage Dreams

This is my guilty pleasure right now. Katy Perry is what teenage dreams are made of, 20-something year old dreams as well. If you like perving on Katy Perry... watch this... and thank me.

little red FTW

its a progression from the first album. but i love that its so funky and big but still seems so mellow as well.

yeah I agree Javid.

When I spotted the clip it was instantly recognisable from Splendour.

It has a great alluring quality, really draws you in but is so restrained at the same time.

I've made the call, look out Whispering Jack...

oww and did you watch the katy perry clip???

Probably safer to do it alone, in your room, with the lights out, scented candles if that's your thing.
