If you're able to afford to attend any & all festivals, stop reading now.
I think Big Day Out is one of the most over rated, over populated bogan fests on the Australian calendar even Bathurst has a timless je ne sais quoi. The 4 Big Day Outs which I attended position me squarely as a bogan sympathiser and I'm under no illusions that angry rants like mine only serve to polarize opinions even further and make the flag kissing wife beater brigade even more staunch in their defense of the event.
Now I must admit the BDO 2011 line up is decent. Rammstein are back and it only took a total stinker and the whole world to revolt against her for M.I.A to return. You've got LCD Soundsystem, Great! Iggy Pop, Great! The Black Keys, Great! Tool.... Did I mention Rammstein were coming?
All I want from a festival is to bring acts I would never otherwise have the chance to see and apart from Rammstein and a small collection of others, it's all a bit of history repeating.
While still working part time, there is always a bit scramble for my co-workers to get Big Day Out off. That won't be a weekend I'll be fighting for. As I enter into the teaching profession in Feb, 2011 my dilemma will be how fast I can run out the gate on Thursday or Friday afternoon and get down to Del Rio for the Playground Weekender Festival 2011!!!
So yes you'll be du hasin' the night away and enjoy the singed eyebrows from the insane pyrotechnics. But my night won't end with a guy who sings behind a fucking sheet, not unless I meet some dude at the camping grounds.
Here are some of the tunes I'll be enjoying and you can too!

"so yes you'll be du hasin' the night away and enjoy the singed eyebrows from the insane pyrotechnics. But my night won't end with a guy who sings behind a fucking sheet"
brilliant. brilliant.
weekender still hasnt enticed me but i suppose with that its more about enjoying the festival and not having to put up with dipshits in a nice place. get me a ticket? thanks man..
Toro Y Moi are sublime!!!
and I'm glad you got my du hassin' comment in the right spirit, it wasn't a jibe... im genuinely jealous lol
its just like 2001
limp bizkit were 'headliners', rammstein showed them up. everyone thinks tool is cool for a guy that plays behind a blanket with a projector. rammstein are out there, fire, dirty dirty porn simulation and other outrageous antics. for fun you go with the loud crazy guy, not the weird cunt that evidently thinks too much.
