I’m currently snowed under with school work and high amounts of fantastic music. Songs good enough to feed to your pets.
Youtube: Abbe May - Mammalian Locomotion A simply outstanding, dirty guitar driven song. These types of guitar solos would be what Dallas Crane would be doing if they didn't fall to shit. Honestly though, I probably wouldn't have posted this should the clip not been so good. Take note of the seductive roller skating. Website - Myspace
Mp3: Grouplove – Colours – Fear not, California has a sound other than Best Coast. I just adore the acoustic guitar and when you slice it up with all the right fuzz and buzz it can only get better. Dual vocalists produce a sweeping, soaring, gorgeously shaken chorus. They've got some US dates coming up with the likes of Joy Formidable and Florence & The Machine. Myspace - Twitter
Mp3: Guineafowl – In our circles -There is a lot of this stuff knocking about at the moment but unlike The Middle East, Guineafowl are proving to be more than a one hit wonder. Rather than over doing every minor detail, they focus on nailing the important elements like the marching beat and the likeable chorus. It's for the soul but it's also for the dancefloor. If you sign up to the mailing list you get another track for free also, I did, well worth it. Myspace - Free Mp3 "The Botanist"
Mp3: Waxx Maxx – Eaten Alive – I adore the feelings of French-ness that Waxx Maxx conjures inside of me. They had me at “hey kitten, where ya stayin’” and I’ve never looked back. This is what every indie-electro-pop outfit strives for and usually falls short of. They release a song every month or so for free download so get over there to catch up! Website - Twitter
Youtube: Paper Scissors – Lung Sum – The Paper Scissors reinforce why it’s great to be Australia. Exceptional song writing quality and one of the most distinct vocals in Australia, possibly the world. “Lung Sum” probably won’t reach an audience as large as “We Don’t Walk” in Australia but that is a testament to the lack of intelligent people in the world. This one is off their second album which is on the way 'In Loving Memory'. They touring the album around Oz too, check the site for details. Website - Twitter
MP3: Foreign Objects - Candy - This is a throwback to a time where bands like The Datsuns really sought out to make interesting music and the raw energy was a bi-product not a prerequisite. It's all very lowest common denominator and it's got the irrelevant typical subject matter where Candy is a double entendre for a penis or something. I'd never see them live because it won't be too much like hard work. I used to be young once, so it's always good to see kids keen to fuck shit up... I guess. Myspace
