Ugly Girls Be Quiet
Girl Talk has taught us is that the lines between genres are increasingly blurring and probably always have been. Anyone who confines their musical tastes to specific scenes and genres is an idiot.
Remixes and mash ups were around long before Girl Talk a.k.a Greg Gillis walked in the room. He isn't so much a pioneer of the unknown but a master of the already done. Many cast Girl Talk aside as a glorified music theif who does what any aspiring musician does when he has not talent, becomes a DJ. When Night Ripper was released few would have considered Gillis as anything more than a viking of popular music who raped and pillaged whatever he pleased. But on All Day his third immensely impressive release, Gillis takes an ever increasing status of legitimacy among fans and other artists desperate to be included on one of his tracks.
All Day kicks off with one of his favourite live cuts "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath laying the ground work for cuts from 2 Pac & Jay Z respectively. Other Highlights include Track 2 Let It Out which early on sets Jay-Z's "Can I Get A" to the back of "Tenderness" by General Public and the chaos which ensues on Get It Get It which smoothly glides from Pitbull's "Hotel Room Service" and Depeche Mode's "I Just Can't Get Enough" to Daft Punk's "Digital Love" being torn to shreads by Missy Elliot on "Gossip Folks".
Girl Talk's latest is not going to convert any of the doubters, he gave up on them a long time ago but it will only heighten the love affair he shares with adoring fans which, thanks to his universal blend of so much popular music numbers globally in the millions.
So from Night Ripper to All Day, Gillis has shown himself to be the ultimate tastemaker with one of the most refined and diverse pallets. He chooses only the finest cuts and cooks them to perfection.

Love War Pigs X Move Bitch on the first track and 'Jump on Stage' has some of my favs; Iggy Pop, Beastie Boys, Skee-Lo, Portishead, Whitetown, Biggie, Radiohead & ODB....LOVE.
Listening to this album on the train as I speak...hearing Arcade Fire morphing into Radiohead, which then gives way to Bananarama, all mashed with random rapping and musical samples. It is an exciting experience.
I loved the Skee-Lo addition too Nancy and the Big Boi 'Shutterbug' rhymin' leads into Skee-Lo so well!!!
It was so hard when I was reviewing it to decide what to mention and what to overlook.
I probably should have just wrote "real awesome music" and supplied download link.
Skee-Lo 'I wish' is my current obsession.
