Riverside Motherfucker

Amazing scenery like this is fast becoming the preferred setting for experiencing the most amazing summer festivals. The heavenly shores of Del Rio Resort in Wisemans Ferry will play host to Playground Weekender, a must-be-seen-at event for all Sydney's finest residents. Sydneysiders, this is your chance to mix with other members of the taste-maker elite, free from the filth that made you swear you'd never attend another Big Day Out.

To make things even more exciting, Cut Copy have joined the Playgrounder line up. With Zonoscope only days away from release, the news couldn't be more exciting. Bright Like Neon Love made my brain explode and the releases which followed were equally competent. I caught them live at the Manning Bar and I was surprised this laid back electro could translate to such a wildly good time.

I make no bones about the fact I don't like large groups of people and I'm not wild about most live music festivals because they don't cater to the music lover not wild about sunstroke and Muse. But for someone as bitterly selfish and unhappy with the shared reality of life, to discover moments where the joys of coming together for a common experience leads to an increase in my enjoyment levels.

Until you've experienced it, there really is nothing like watching your favourite bands with the backdrop of the surrounding mountains swallowing you whole. Unlike other festivals, You will remember and look forward to Playground Weekender not for the plastic cups of beer, sunburn and Australia Day patriots dickheads, you'll remember it not just for music but for the camping, the wine and cocktails, the sublime breeze off the Hawkesbury, the parties at the teepee village, the fancy dress party and of course the refined company.

Fingers crossed I'll see Jaydos doubling the fuckin' drop.
