It's time we danced to some good Aussie music...

Amen says Chris. If you were an outsider looking in at Australian music at the moment you would be forgiven for thinking the scene is full of insipid guitar-pop-lite acts, ac/dc time warp bands and lukewarm singer-songwriters. Alas, this is not the truth, and its my new mission to uncover the best in Australian music, and i will start my long quest with The Valentinos.

With an impressive roll of influences, from Can, !!!, The Pixies and Mission Of Burma, Sydney-based outfit The Valentinos have taken slight cues from their musical forefathers and have mixed new wave, electro, psycadelica and punk, forging viscious and debauched textures and grooves. They are guaranteed to get you and the Tsubi-wearing hipsters dancing and tripping out all at the same time. If you dig the Presets, you just might like this. If you want to check them out, they will be playing at VAMP this sunday at the Waverly Bowling Club with Van She and a slew of guests.
