What I thought was beautiful, doesn't live inside of you

Man oh man today has been an exciting day of music news! I am normally plugging away at some new band rather than ever having news to tell you guys. Well mark this day in your calendar, I have something of worth to say (debatable).

It's been a long time coming and quite frankly I've well and truly lost any interest in what Guns n Roses could come up with, until now that I actually have some music to put to the rumour spreading of song titles and demos and live clips. Thanks to MetalSucks.net we have our first definitively audible mp3's of some music coming from the infamous Chinese Democracy. I could try and rip out all the "Chinese democracy cost so much... Chinese democracy took so long" Rodney Dangerfield jokes, but instead, I'll just give you all a link to listen for yourselves.

Stream: "The Blues" - Probably my favourite track out of the bunch. I rekon if The Fray had released this song, I would be quite taken with it and there are moments where the song does sit well with me. It felt so good to hear Axel's voice again, but I feel really this is just too close to watered down pop rock. Guns n Roses were always able to walk that tightrope with alittle more growl and punch than this track demonstrates. I do like the main lyrics "what I thought was beautiful, don't live inside of you anymore".

Stream: "I.R.S" - Again, when this track wants to be soft, it's really soft. When it wants to chunk it up, it's so chumpy you could carvvvvve it. The transition between light & dark (as Paul Mercurio would say) is just way too rough. For me, Solo comes on way to early for my liking, we should be teased and baited before they rip it up.

Stream: "There was a time (TWAT)" - What is with these processed R'N'B beats and shit? The sloppyness of these riffs, irrelevant and out of place strings over Axel doing an amicable job just makes for one big mess I don't want to clean up. It's unfortunate, there are elements to this song that show promise, but it seems the end package is an over produced nightmare. Tweaking songs for too long is a curse.

Stream:
"Chinese Democracy" - This song was the result of a wild party at Axel's house in which Good Charlotte left a copy of their single "keep your hands off my girl", Bon Jovi left what's left of his testicles and a transvestite Slash impersonator agreed in a drunken state to play guitar. Too much soloing over the one half decent riff should I be living in 1994.

All links provided by MetalSucks.net. They have given the blogosphere much to discuss!

I've gotta say, I think they'll need to put Axel on suicide watch to be brutally honest. I mean I am an avid Gunners fan (not Arsenal boo they stink), But once bloggers less forgiving than myself like Pitchfork get their hands on this (probably already have) I fear the review could be more scathing than the one they afforded to Jet.

In other news just quickly, The Valentinos are playing their last ever shows together under the monicker of The Valentinos. They are preparing to record their debut LP and it seems a fresh start is what they are after. Should be quite exciting and I'm hoping they go for something edgier than Hate Game, Larissa I still adore you, but the name has gotta go. I'm thinking something along the lines of bands with angry weird names like Say Cheese & Die, Die! Die! Die!, Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah. Yunno, something that really shits me off when I have to type it.

Head over to their myspace for all the tour dates and be sure not to miss out as they'll be dropping some new fresh tracks. It's a crucial but exciting time for the band, they have the world at their feet and now they need to make that definitive stomp! Exciting!
