Playgrounder Must See: The Snowdroppers

So you've decided that heading to Playground Weekender is just the ticket for you. Four Days is a long time to be watching live music and if you're not prepared it can result in the discovery of both holy grails and total flops. I was unfortunate enough to see Yumi Stynes and the channel [V] misfits demonstrating their interpretation of music as THE PUNISHERZ.

I give you my first hot tip: The Snowdroppers.

My good friend and music taster Elise gave me the hot tip on these guys just the other day and after barely a handful of listens I found it hard to argue with her. I'm one of those people that love to be given a hot tip and then rudely shoot it down because I think I know more however even someone as arrogant as myself knows when to listen to someone with similar preferences.

The Snowdroppers are fairly easy to sum up, they're a feel good out and out blues and roots outfit whose penchant for stomping out their old time worries with some banjo goes down little a shot of whiskey laced with metal shavings. As an Mp3 my favourite track "Do the Stomp" sounds like a caged wild animal waiting to break out in the live arena and kill some livestock. It doesn't hurt that the bass player also looks like a One Man Wolf Pack either.

Great track mate, although it sounds good live, for some reason when I heard this on the radio tonight it sounded flat and gimmicky. Definitely a style that works much better live.
