Let’s just start with 10-6 of the Top 10 Party Tracks.
10. Twist & Shout – The Beatles
Everyone should know this song and everyone can drunkenly pretend like they know how to do the twist. Plus it reminds me of that scene in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off where he’s dancing on the float, back when Matthew Broderick was awesome and wasn’t married to that transvestite donkey witch. So it combines two of my favourite things, Ferris Bueller (who my dog is named after) and my favourite band, The Beatles.
9. A Punk – Vampire Weekend
If you can resist nodding your head along to the opening bars you must have supernatural powers. Almost incomprehensible lyrics are also good for when you’re mouth is too drunk to form words. Also reminds me of the hilarity that is the movie Step Brothers.
8. Blister In The Sun – Violent Femmes
Apparently this song is about masturbating. Why does no one tell me these things? I’ve been singing innocently along to these lyrics for years. Although I did know that Turning Japanese was about self pleasure so I’m not completely naive.
7. Ring, Ring, Ring – De La Soul
Not just a chorus you can use as your answering machine message but a classic tune by a group that are amazing. If haven’t listened to them, you should. Old school Hip Hop at its best. But then again I’m pretty sure everyone has heard them on the track Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz.
6. Friday I’m In Love – The Cure
The Cure found a really good formula for writing a sweet song without it being so sickly sweet you go into a diabetic coma. Sigh, such an amazing song.
Have a nice weekend. I’ll be spending it analysing Hitchcock movies and Fight Club. At least a shirtless Brad Pitt will ease the pain of analysis. I'll do the top 5, next week. Complain away.

bring it all back to you / don't stop movin' or reach for the stars would have all been equally acceptable
