It's, Like, So Totally Friday!!

Ok so there's already been a lot written about her in the blogosphere over the past 5 days and I really don't want to encourage her further. But with her infamy now at an all time high, I feel I can't just sit this one out.

I'm talking, of course, about Rebecca Black; the 13 year old "singer" from America. If you haven't seen her single 'Friday', it's most definitely for the best and I can't really bring myself to post it here. So if you must see this horrendous clip just check out the biggest thing on You Tube at the moment.


Now clearly this is the worst video ever, just like everyone is saying. The auto tune is so thick it makes her sound like she's singing without a nose. And basically Rebecca starts the songs by recounting her morning in excruciating detail ('7am waking up in the morning, gotta get fresh, gotta go downstairs. Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal.' Yes. Intense stuff. It doesn't get better.), before walking to the bus stop and getting confused about which seat to sit in.
I mean, the lyrics are beyond bad. If these are as deep as the thought processes of a 13 year old girl get, I now understand why Bieber is so freaking popular.

But I'm not going to keep banging on about how terrible she is. That is self evident. What I do find ironic though, is the fact she has been so stingingly panned by everyone it seems, including the mainstream media, yet Ke$ha, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga have been releasing the same inane crap for years and they're winning Grammy's!

They may be the most stupidly obvious lyrics ever to be written written, but she didn't even need any double entendres, innuendo or dry humping to get over 25 million hits on You Tube.
She simply needed to tell us what she did on Friday in all it's glorious detail.

How long she'll be remembered for once the novelty wears off though is yet to be seen. And clearly, with the way things are going, something even more mind numbingly terrifying will soon eclipse poor little Rebecca Black.
Maybe the random token rapper that suddenly busts out a (abysmally bad) rhyme towards the end will bring out a solo tune. I pray this doesn't happen.

But for now i'm just excited to hear what stories from the next day Rebecca can enlighten us with.
