Q&A with The Belligerents

I get sent quite a few free CD's and to be honest, I don't really get around to listening to them. They usually have wanky bios and as a former promotions manager who wrote wanky bios and press releases, I can tell you that they are BAD. To be fair they aren't as bad as mine though.

So it was a great surprise that a CD I was sent actually pleased my ears, I even listened to it multiple times through. Disappointed they're from Brisbane though, I hate that joint. What's up with all the walking/talking slowly, liking rugby and those bars with reject strippers walking around topless selling raffle tickets? I don't get it!? Yep I'm a true Melbourne snob.

Anyways, read on for the Q&A with links/tour dates/free download.

My name is: Andy

I play in: The super badass band called The Belligerents

We sound like: Eggs Benedict with salmon and that delicious hollandaise sauce and asparagus mmmm

Inspired by: Slip and slides

We reside in: Brisbane
*thank you for not calling it Bris-Vegas - Nancy

Our local music scene is: Big and passionate, flooded with talent, heaps of hipsters and lots of kebabs shops (and recently some great mexican) to cater for us

The most annoying thing about our scene is: that there are so many great bands to see, local and touring, and you just can't see them all!

Our best gig to date was: Here I'd usually note some awesome support gig we played, but instead, the most fun has to be our second gig at the Hangar in Brisbane when we covered Toxic by Britney Spears for a pop night

The song that gets me dancing is: Something about us by Daft Punk

First album I bought: Dookie by Green Day

My musical youth involved: Lots of piano lessons, very little piano practice, school jazz bands and cute girls on bandcamp

Pop music is: almost fitting in any situation

If I could have written any song it would have to be: Lady (Hear Me Tonight) - Modjo

Do you play Fifa? Nope, but I'll beat you in indoor soccer

Favourite Restaurant: A place called Little Greek Taverna in West End.. delish and fresh and cheap, I'll take you there.
*yes please - Nancy

The thing I hate most about bloggers is: when they say, "I'm gonna blog about this"

My Musical Guilty Pleasure is: rehearsing the best of 90s dance hits for an ultimate gig one day

The sporting team I follow is: Liverpool

If I weren't a musician I would be: Sailing / Pirate
