Parklife & Bon Iver

Really I've never had any respect for the Future Music, We Loves and Parklifes of this world. Average line ups, top dollar tickets and a dangerously inviting offer for smackies.

But hats off Parklife, it seems you have just slightly clawed some credibility back with your selections. Parklife 2011 will see Death From Above 1979 is the most exciting addition but there's also Santigold, Mylo, Clint's mate Wolfgang Gartner, and my personal guilty pleasure The Streets.

So the rest of the line up is to be expected but hey, you have to give credit when it's warranted.

Here is 'the rest': Gossip, Lykke Li, Duck Sauce, Katy B, The Naked & Famous, Crystal Fighters, Example, Digitalism, Adrian Lux, Simian Mobile Disco, Magnetic Man, Nero, SebastiAn, Diplo, Mstrkrft, Sebastien Tellier, Little Dragon, Gold Fields, Joker & MC Nomad, Feed Me, Tensnake, Kimbra, The Aston Shuffle, Flux Pavilion, Yacht Club DJs & Harvard Bass.

Here are the dates, it goes to WA & SA but no one cares.

Sat 24 Sep | Sidney Myer Music Bowl and Kings Domain, Melbourne, VIC
Sat 1 Oct | Riverstage and City Botanic Gardens, Brisbane, QLD
Sun 2 Oct | Kippax Lake, Moore Park, Sydney, NSW

Tickets on sale Midday Thursday June 30.

Video: Bon Iver - Calgary

Lately I've really been digging James Blake and Bon Iver. I appreciate the two have significant differences but they both sit well with me when I'm in a particular mood (tired on the way to work). "Calgary" is the first single off Bon Iver's Self Titled which will be released in Australia tomorrow through Jagjaguwar/Inertia and here is the clip. Of course it's very indie and I'm sure intended to have a really powerful message but for me I couldn't get past the clashing of textures and themes throughout the clip. The smooth pure whites tainted by the rough array of browns I found just lovely. It doesn't move me at all but the imagery delights my eyes.
