Fine Young Cannibals - Suspicious Minds

Ive always been able to to a killer impersonation of Roland Gift, FYC's vocalist. I'd dance around flailing my limbs and contorting my voice in what is eventually a futile attempt to mirror those bizarre tones. His unique intonations sound like Otis Redding mixed with a goose, however this mix made this band extremely unique. Forming in England in the early 80's from the ashes of The Beat, the band forged a pop sound infulenced by R&B, Jazz, Rock & Roll and soul. In 1986 the band rather ambitiously took on the Elvis classic 'Suspicious Minds', paving the way for many sub-par covers of this song. However the FYC nailed this song, and with it continued to release some great tracks such as 'Johnny Come Home' and 'She Drives Me Crazy'. They never actually broke up, and they remain one of the most underrated and under-achieving bands of the 1980's.
