Splendour Pick #4 - World's End Press

Splendour in the Grass is certainly a completely different proposition to the Metro in half-mode (something I had never seen before - same venue, half the size), which was the last place I saw World's End Press as they helped WBDF favourites !!! (Chk Chk Chk) around the country when they were touring for laneway. When they came out on stage, given I'd never heard of them, I honestly did not expect much. This was definitely one of the nights to have low expectations.

With on-stage clothing that made me think I was at a retro party, the guys came out to a room of seriously no more than about 20 people (when they started), but you wouldnt have been able to tell by the relentless energy these guys brought to the stage. Infectious smiles all round, fantastic grooves and fun the likes of which I hadn't seen since I saw a band called Little Red for the first time a few years back. The music itself is funky, groovy and entirely danceable and, after having a bit of a chat with them at the end of the aforementioned Metro show they seem like some top guys too. What more could you ask for? (please, thats a rhetorical question..)

They've been on Triple J and are obviously gaining themselves a bit of notoriety with supports and of course being put on Splendour. No matter what time they'll be on (unless they get clashed with Kanye [I feel sorry for the poor bands that do]) I'll be checking them out and wiggling my ass like I've got tapeworm.

Luckily, for those who aren't going to Splendour, the guys are currently touring the land with Little Red as part of the 'All Mine' tour. I'll be at the Metro this Friday, I recommend everyone getting a ticket. Two great Australian bands on one night? You might wanna bring some spare undies...
