Whiteboys at Little Red

So Javid and I - with I being me and me being Dean - went to see Little Red at the Metro a couple of weeks ago. But rather than just writing about it, we decided to film it.

I'm sure some forethought into what we were actually going to do would have been quite to our benefit. In fact, I'm certain of it. Nevertheless we managed to scramble together some bits of garbled, rambling information, a naked shower scene and some band footage to bring you our first video log in all its beta glory.

Unfortunately Little Red aren't attending Splendour this year so I can't place them as one of my Splendour Selections, but they'd definitely make the cut.
It was a much mellower set this time with many of their slower, harmonic songs taking precedence. Though this seemed to appease the hoards of screaming 14 year old girls, so perhaps this was the plan. But naturally they played a fun set, influenced heavily by their drummer's relentless intoxicating jubilation.

Worlds End Press are also a band to look out for if you want a healthy dose of disco funk. Finally a band that has a synth but doesn't use it to saturate their music in order to hide the truth, that is their own mediocrity. Naked and Famous?  No?
Their bass driven grooves pound out just enough bop to satisfy even the whitest 1950's white middle class male stereotype and their sweet jazz licks on the guitar gives the music that extra polish.
The way these guys dance on stage would be absolutely ridiculous if they didn't play such cool music.

And with only weeks to go now until Splendour, we'll be getting cracking with some more Splendour Selections, plus a couple more videos coming soon. Preparation might even be done! It's an exciting prospect.
