Its daggy 80's video time!

I was watching VH1 Classic the other day as I do and these videos stuck out because they perpetuate so many 80's stereotypes and at the same time are so undeniably daggy.

Duran Duran personify 80's decadence. Cocktails and champagne on a 40 foot yacht in the Carribean with body painted ladies sliding across the deck, coloured telephones and Simon Le Bon's mane of blonde in this video for 'Rio' sum up the overindulgence and daggyness that make Duran Duran THE pop band of the 1980's. Any revival that has been staged by this band should be banned, Live 8 was embarassing for us all.

REO Speedwagon are quite possibly the worst looking band in the history of the world, and have made what is probabaly the worst film clip ive ever seen for 'Can't Fight This Feeling'. The poodle mullets, the poor computer effects of candles in windows and levitating roses, and the horrendous moustache smeared across the pianists face make for an amusing experience.

Panico! At The Disco.....i didn't say Panic

Since when did South America become the new Montreal? This place seems to be teeming with weird and wonderful artists. Case in point Cansei De Ser Sexy, can't get enough of them.

Panico

Anyway, somehow Chile has managed to muster up this band called Panico, a bizzare pastiche of frenetic, bouncy indie rock; sexually suggestive bi-lingual lyrics with a slight disco aesthetic. 'Transpiralo' recalls 'Money (thats what I want)' but cranks up the fuzzy bass and slaps that cowbell like there is no tomorrow while 'Anfetimado' is a straight out garage rocker that sounds like The Hives on some seriously crazy South American peppers.

Hit up some of their tunes at their MySpace profile

'This Big Stereo' a fellow music blog has said some nice things about our Sydney faves Van She. They even posted an mp3 of a new remix of 'Kelly'. The 'states are starting to notice, looks like big things ahead for Van She.

Top 5: Worst Dance Songs of the past 12 months

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Electronic music is what the whiteboydancefloor love, but even we have our limits...

5. Audio Bullys - Shot You Down - Poor Nancy Sinatra. Her stunningly haunting track has been eaten, regurgitated and played with in ways that it never should have. This could have truly been a fantastic remix/cover, but no. It is terrible and hard to dance to. Bang Bang, Chris shot you down.

4. TV Rock - Flaunt It. 'Go on and Flaunt it, what your mumma gave you' errm OK whatever. I don't know what I hate more about this track, that stupid white guy in the clip with the piss weak fashion sense or the un-erasable image of ugly hoes shaking 'what their mumma gave them' on the dancefloor. If you studied biology TV Rock, you would know it was probably her daddy who gave her that, and if he heard you talk like that he would kick your skinny asses.

3. Infernal - Paris To Berlin. Yeah sure the chick who sings this has a nice rack. Doesn't mean she can sing. Nor does it mean Infernal can make good beats, or melodies, or videos, or anything else resembling good music. Euro-Trash? I think so..

2. Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child. Ok, lets do the math. Kylie left Neighbours in what, 1990? It took her about 11 years to release 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head'. So Natalie Bassingthwaite, looks like you will have to wait at least 10 years before you can release something as decent and redeem yourself from this shermozzle of a song. Ditch the clothes, you look ridiculous. Matches the music I guess.

1. DHT - Listen To Your Heart. The Roxette version is passable, even Ok when heard in the right mood. This horrible Euro-trance-pop-dance-trash can't even get close. It's beats cliched and corny; those synthesised melodies sound so mid-90's and that weird looking German chick wouldnt get past the Australian Idol producers. Wait, maybe she might, that fat chick did win last season.

What ever happened to.. Fine Young Cannibals

Image hosting by Photobucket

Fine Young Cannibals - Suspicious Minds

Ive always been able to to a killer impersonation of Roland Gift, FYC's vocalist. I'd dance around flailing my limbs and contorting my voice in what is eventually a futile attempt to mirror those bizarre tones. His unique intonations sound like Otis Redding mixed with a goose, however this mix made this band extremely unique. Forming in England in the early 80's from the ashes of The Beat, the band forged a pop sound infulenced by R&B, Jazz, Rock & Roll and soul. In 1986 the band rather ambitiously took on the Elvis classic 'Suspicious Minds', paving the way for many sub-par covers of this song. However the FYC nailed this song, and with it continued to release some great tracks such as 'Johnny Come Home' and 'She Drives Me Crazy'. They never actually broke up, and they remain one of the most underrated and under-achieving bands of the 1980's.

Monday Bloody Monday

Yeh thats right everyone... your good times are over for another 4-5 days at best. That son of a bitch Monday is here.

In true Whiteboydancefloor style, a weekend post is rare if ever present as we are out there with you all, bumping and grinding, movin and shakin, twisting and turning.

Saturday Night saw ThePix of whiteboydancefloor notoriety hit The Beachcomber Resort in Toukley. Here is the long and short of a venue review for you all.

With the right company and the right bank balance to pay The Beachies ridiculous food prices, it is not a half bad place to have a drink. I myself did have the right company and a decent enough bank balance... luckily. However, lets get to what is most important! As far as a venue for bumping and grinding goes, it is highly average. The DJ is heckled all night and all the comments are more than warranted. The dancefloor highly awkward and non-centralized. The bar staff, arrogant wankers. The dress code is anything above a paperbag and fishnets and quite frankly does not even compare to the callibre of partyer that Western Sydney has to offer. Surprisingly the highlight was the security folk, relaxed, fair and non threatening.

Hardcore clubbers beware, as you might have already figured out, this place is not for anyone with too much street credit. Sadly I felt like I was constantly asked for my ID not for my age, but just so people might actually be able to hold something which belonged to me. In their defense, it is a great place to have a drink with fantastic views and plenty of seating, also everyone said to me Fridays are bigger than Saturdays, none the less, add another 300 people and I still would not have been impressed with it's self prescribed "pumping atmosphere" which the locals speak of.

Now, I'm going to change my tune alittle. Here is some social commentary for you all. It seems like everywhere you go these days, everyones got a bit of 'tude hanging off their shoulder and it's almost a cornerstone of any trendy scene. Like it or not when they channel it on the dancefloor, the results are dynamically diabolical. Im not saying go galavanting around sydney acting like a complete twat or im sure Chris would love nothing more than to shoot you with his imaginary gun or slash your ties with his real one. But it has been proven everywhere that putting your fly styles in the fly places at the right time is...well...fly.

What I'm talkin about here people is the Power of Positive 'Tude.

But listen closely.

What I am definitely not talking about, is being a certified fuck! And you know the people Im talking about. You wonder how they managed to understand the complex assignment of opening their frontdoor to get outside in the first place, or you ponder whether or not if someone just opened it for them. If i hear one more person give me some comment about how good are the skirts, or howz the form... I will shoot you! I am getting sick and tired of complete undesirables venturing further than their local bottle-o's and milkbars and taking a proverbial shit on great dancefloors!

ALL YOU NEED IS UP THE ROAD, GO BUY YOUR $8.90 GOON BAG AND KNOCK YOURSELF OUT. HELL, ON THE WEEKEND, SPOIL YOURSELF WITH 2 CORONA'S AT HAPPY HOUR, STICK EM DOWN YOUR PANTS AND FUCK STRAIGHT OFF HOME. I DONT EVEN WANT YOU TALKIN TO THE BARMAN, JUST WRITE YOUR MESSAGE ON A POST IT NOTE, STICK IT TO THE DICK PERTRUDING FROM YOUR HEAD, ALERT THE BARMAN TO THE MESSAGE AND GO HOME, NO EYE CONTACT.

My Point: We need more dancer on dancer, dance-off action. And yes I am calling all dancers to make ready with their dancing shoes! You all sit their and scream the words to Love Generation, let's live it.

Slowly we're regaining the dancefloors, but there is much to be done... I didnt start the fire, But i sure as hell must waste all my money on overpriced petrol to keep it firing erratically and freely and so should you!

Streaming Sledghammers

- Im really quite lazy today, so not much writing, but really this video for pop music pioneer Peter Gabriel's monster hit 'Sledgehammer' speaks for itself. Everyone knows this song but the video is something else. If i saw this video when it was released back in '86, i think my head would have exploded. Its amazing and still looks incredibly fresh. An amazing video, for an amazing song, from an amazing album by an amazing arist.

- Big news from the crew at fBi 94.5, today they launch their radio broadcast online! The Sydney-based station has become a staple of the local music scene since its inception less that 3 years ago and in that time has showcased a plethora of hidden talent as well as the best in independent music from around the world.

Stream fBi here! : http://fbi.org.au/content.php/753.html

- Pete Doherty, you are an idiot. He was busted AGAIN on drugs charges only hours after leaving court on a smilar charge. Read the article here from the Herald . Seems the only way people will care about his crappy Babyshambles is if he gets publicity for being a drug-fucked dickhead.

Do you remember Rock N Roll radio?

Image hosting by Photobucket

We at whiteboydancefloor are all for guilty musical pleasures, but this is one I dont like to admit to. But this one isnt one in the OMG indie kids like Kelly Clarkson sort of way, its more like OMG this band is my time machine.

It's astonishing how a band can take you back to a time of your life, and make you feel like it was forever and yesterday simultaenously. Even if 3 or 4 years ago is where a song takes you, its profound how it can be your own personal DeLorean from Back To The Future.

The band i am talking about is The Ataris. Admittedly, they are terrible. Musically uninspired and lyrically as poetic as a house brick. But for some emo-ish reason, they always got me through my middle-adolescent mopeing. Thematically they rang true, with the subtle as a sledgehammer 'Giving Up On Love' panning the L word, 'Bad Case Of Broken Heart' in which Kris Roe intones 'The radio plays a love song/i smashed my fist right through the dial', and 'In This Diary' becoming a graduation anthem for me.

They are releasing a new album soon, and its shaping up to be an absolute wank-fest. Stream it here if you actually care.

I want to know, what bands take you guys back to a certain time in your life?

That Boy Needs Therapy!

Greetings, Greetings!

The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living is the new album released from british grubs The Streets. Put simply, they are looking at getting alittle more drama in some of their songs on this album but what lovers of The Streets are after is still there. Dirty stories about bitches, beats, fame, fortune and getting banged! I for one love it, however The Streets are a band with plenty of haters... I guess theyre just like the Darkness, we dont know if theyre taking themselves seriously, but its fucking fun to guess so just enjoy it you twats!

Here's the video clip of their first single care of our friends at YouTube.

In a bit of house keeping news... The Whiteboydancefloor Myspace Page has been changed alittle bit, alot more easy to find out the basics of what were about and stuff so yeh. Enjoy and keep spreading the word!

Sex City

Hope you all had a good Easter, some of you might be all tuckered out from being present when Amber Savage lifted the lid off Bloc on Saturday Night. How good was she!

Theres heaps of stuff happening on the Sydney scene at the moment so today your going to get a dose of that.

- The only radio station that seems to really give a shit about quality Aussie music, fBi, will soon be launching its Sydney radio station online! So those poor reception problems you get if you live on the periphery will no longer be a problem.

- Still on fBi, the fBi Afterparty is a new club night at Spectrum, 34 Oxford St Darlinghurst every Friday night. They play all the music you wish they would play at clubs and its dirt cheap at 8 bucks, 5 if you are an fBi supporter. Finally a place for the indie kids to play.

- The Come Together festival will be at Luna Park on the 10th & 11th June, with an extremely diverse line-up. Strung Out, The Butterfly Effect, Van She, The Valentinos, The Hard-Ons and so many more will be there.

- Those uber-cool cats at Modular are hosting their monthly evening of madness at The Basement on the 29th April, featuring Simain Mobile Disco from London.

- I nearly wet myself when one of my musical ears informed me of this show. We Love....Sounds will hit the Hordern Pavillion on the 11th June with an incredible line up of Electronic and Hip-Hop artists. Among them will be the legendary Grandmaster Flash, Digitalism, Annie, The Presets, Van She (again), Bang Gang DJ's and Infusion. Tix start at around 80 bucks. This is 80 bucks i wont be missing when i spend it on this gig

- Our sources tell us that the worlds most enigmatic band, Tool will be hitting Sydney on the 10th August. More news when we get it.

P.S. If you guys are having problems with the way the site is formatted, download Firefox because IE is retarded.

MTV AMVA LMFAO

Did anyone have the misfortune of catching the MTV Australian Video Music Awards on Wednesday night? No? Nor did i. For the unfortunate saps who won tickets or caught the show on MTV, seeing Shannon Noll win best male would have been akin to seeing Kim Jong-Il winning a sexiest man alive poll. My Victa 4-stroke in my garage has a similar tone and range to the Condoblin-bred Noll, who unfathomably edged out Kanye and fellow musical genius James Blunt (LOL) for the prize. No surprise that the coolest video ive seen in years, Mylo's 'Drop The Pressure', scored a nom for best Dance video but really was never in the running, losing to the horrendous Rouge Traders and their farcial 'Voodoo Child' video. Somehow that antipodean weirdo James Blunt (doesn't he creep you out too?) won the best song award, showing just how stupid the people that watch MTV and buy music in this country really are.

The celebrities they drag out from the US to host this charade are so precious they waltz around in oversize sun-deelies, barely submitting to the shortest of interviews and are whisked around town by an entourage that resembles the large inhabitants of Taronga Park Zoo. They frit around our great city, smoking all our weed and snorting all our cocaine whilst climbing all over our bridge and being chased by the paparazzo desperately seeking a Polaroid of B-List royalty. MTV was a cultural revolution back in 1981 at it's inception, with Madonna, Peter Gabriel and Dire Straits showing the world what can be done with the then fresh medium. Now it just acts as a submissive whore, representing the beast that is musical ignorance. The AVMA'S showed without doubt that now, MTV really does blow.

Anyway, i mentioned Mylo, so here is the ORIGINAL video for 'Drop The Pressure', so cool.

whitegirldancefloor week is over :(

No more bitches, bitches. However probabaly next week there will be more foxy ladies, but for now here are some more ladies.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Tall Poppies Myspace
Perth has been the home of lots of overhyped music lately (End Of Fashion, Little Birdy, etc etc etc), however Tall Poppies, two bob-haired lasses and unseen male drummer from that very city may be ready to break that mould. Belle and Sebastian are a cited influence of theirs which is quite obvious as they deliver sweet indie-pop delivered with a feathered touch. Slightly quirky yet so hip, these girls and dude harmonise over a rhythm section punctuated with gentle guitar licks and drum caresses.

Im surprised i haven't spoken about Annie much since wbdf began, so now is a great time. I think she is one lady that made pop no longer a dirty word. Norways hottest export since Petter Solberg, Annie makes electro-pop tunes that make you want to jump up and down like a girl who has just discovered TV Hits magazine and has bought her first Sugababes single. This video for 'Chewing Gum' is very old, 2004 i think, but i still think it is incredibly cool. Enjoy and have a good easter!!!!

SO MUCH TO SAY, so little time!

In an effort to bring you more, we've been frantically attending gigs and taking notes so that you guys are in the know. Ok whiteboydancefloor fanatics... we've got alot to get through today so lets be efficiently speedy!

April 11th - The Rolling Stones

Lets be blunt, you know as well as i do it was unspeakably amazing. The fireworks show to begin the Stones set was very appropriate for a tour & album entitled "A Bigger Bang". If you went, your truely blessed. The moving of the stage down a 50-60 metre platform was astonishingly rock n roll brilliance and during the breakdown in "Miss you" was perfect!. This typifies the way they use the whole stage (which was some 30-40 metres wide!) particularly Jagger instilling the firm belief in every member of the crowd that he is the god of rhythm and blues. Keith was dynamic, but dynamic as we all know him to be. The song studded finish of classics were like one sucker punch after another, once the lungs had recovered from the last hit, they hit you with another.

If your after a setlist... check my previous post!

It must be said folks, those who complained of the sound quality were in 35 buck seats... which if your seeing the rolling fucking stones for 35 dollars, you should feel priveleged to be within a 50km radius. Hell i was appreciative that they were in the same country... we would have been blessed with a gig via satellite! So fuck them and theyre 35 buck seats...i shit on them!

Support was The Living End... with the crowd not easily impressed, Chris Cheney and his men pulled out all stops, adding bits to songs and going as hard as they know how. Cheney would hav rarely had to prove himself this much in recent times, but he proved himself a true showman. His usual guitar skills not wowing the Richards/Woods faithful stones fans... so wat did Chris do... well he did fuckin more didnt he!

April 13th - The Darkness at the Big Top, Luna Park

Now this was some good fun. With only two albums to choose from, you'd expect a bit of filler... but not the case. A fantastically energetic rock n roll gig. It was like getting the best of acdc/queen/elton john all in the one sitting.

As always, Justin's costume changes were frequent, his between song batter charmingly british and his guitar skills, more than capable. A slight hitch during "Blind man" where Justin made a piano faux pas, however his charm immediately made the crowd only further entrenched in the palm of his hand. Justin finished the set on a roadies shoulders tearing up a solo through the crowd, commanding them to pave a way for him.

Drummer Ed... well i wouldnt know if he was there or not, but as always personal favourite was the humble back up presence of Dan. If Justin had not introduced him, one could forget he was there should he not have some of the most underrated guitar skills of the modern day.

To say I thoroughly enjoyed myself was an understatement. One major highlight was the new bass player, whom provided vocals for the "highway to hell" cover and brief swaray of "thunderstruck". Clearly his input in the band will be alot more significant than that of the beloved Frankie Poullain, onstage their communication and reciprocation seemed more prominent than with Frankie.

Highlights of the music variety were the all the old classics off their debut "Permission to Land" with "Knockers" & "It is just me" only being out done by the ball shattering "Bald" which they closed with.

Support was After the Fall... they try to talk up the darkness as a means of gaining love and acceptance from their home state. It did little to impress me, made one think they didnt believe there music was enough to impress, and if they thought this, they were dead on the fucking dinger. Average and forgettable.

FINALLY...

My discovery to end my role in the Whitegirldancefloor: Bitches & Beats Week

The Octopus Project

Thanks to bands like the Go team, instrumental music has be able to gain alot more credibility as more than a band who cant find a singer. Dont let the gay name put you off. Making a name for themselves as SXSW to say the least, this texan trio is out there.

In an unsual mix of a beautiful and atmospheric nursery with the dirt and grit of a public sandpit in mt druitt (all those from penrith will know my point). The music seems to effortlessly and unintentionally capture multiple emotive aspects. Described as an experimental / instrumental / fucking mental pop band, you'll probably gain your own completely different vibe of what the Octopus Project are preaching... if anything at all.

My suggestion would be their biggest hit "tuxedo hat" but whatever man... your choice.

Sexy Folkadelic Desire

Image hosting by Photobucket

The Essex Green MySpace

This years must hear indie-folk-rock artist has to be The Essex Green. Not so folky that you want to move to the mountains and neglect such necessities such as bathing and grooming (im looking in your direction Katoomba), but folky enough to feel the organic twang of a slightly rough guitar, cutesy piano and somehow still hail from the borough of Brooklyn. Its pleasant on the ears, with subtle yet soaring choruses, and catchy little melodies.

Image hosting by Photobucket
Cansei de Ser Sexy MySpace

Cansei de Ser Sexy are the one of the latest signings to Sub Pop, who keep on signing some incredible talent (note Band Of Horses from a couple of weeks back). These foxy Brazilians make this odd brand of disco-indie pop featuring raucous sytnthesised drum loops and odd effect flourishes thrown in for fun. These South American bitches (and one dude) create tunes are made for dancing like an arthritic robot, and make me want to make love and listen to DFA. Sexy is the operative word.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Starpoint - Object Of My Desire.mp3

A bona fide 80's classic. It has receieved the trashy remix/cover treatment from daggy euro-trash producers a few times but clearly the original is still the best. A classic blend of 80's futurism and R&B, Object of My Desire is a lusty track that evokes passion from the late vocalist Renee Diggs. When she screams 'Please make love to me!', the synth-funkish chorus follows, kicking you in the legs and you submit to the groove. The Moog hypnotises you and the drum reverb quivers through your body and 1985 is all of a sudden the new summer of love.

Aussie Guitar Chicks / The Stones / What More Do You Want?

Thats right, i dont care if you believe it absurb... this post has everything that matters right now! In keeping with the big up yourself week of female artists, ive decided to release a trump card!

Her name: Bertie Blackman

Her music: Truthfully honest, emotionally emotive, Aussie from Australia. Does that load of mumbo jumbo mean nothing to you? Well, in an unusual approach, I have effectively solved the beautiful mystery that is Bertie Blackman. Her music is as enchanting as the name, speaking for itself with colour. There is nothing overtly different that pricks the ears, but she will get you intwined in her web of addiction.

All this describes what could be crituque as wishy washy... but Bertie is anything but. Really as the cliche goes, 'the music speaks for itself'. She burst into everyones ears with her hit single "You Kill Me" and it recieved high rotation from triple j aswell as an mp3 of the week slot.

RACING THINGS UP A BIT!

JUMPIN' JACK FLASH... THE ROLLING STONES PERFORMED LAST NIGHT, AND YOU MISSED EM! or maybe you didnt, shut up.

Heres a rough setlist dedicated to all you whiteboydancefloor'ers:
*Jumpin' Jack Flash
*Lets Spend the Night Together
*You Got Me Rockin'
*Ow No, Not You Again!
*Black Flower (i think)
*Angie
*Some song ive forgotten
*Tumbling Dice
*Night Time is the Right Time (Ray Charles Cover)
*Keith Richards interlude of Keith Songs (this place is empty without you & happy)
*Miss You (which resulted in the stage and The Stones moving out into the crowd some 50+ metres!)
*Rough Justice
*Get Off My Cloud
*Honky Tonk Women
*Paint It Black
*Sympathy For the Devil
*Start Me Up
*Brown Sugar
*Cant Always Get What You Want
*Satisfaction (I Cant Get No!)

It was amazing to say the least! Review comming in the next few days. Without question, Mick Jagger and all the Stones will be inducted into the Whiteboydancefloor hall of fame... purely unimaginable brilliance.

Pretty Girls Make Graves+Amber Savage = WGDF

Image hosting by Photobucket

Pretty Girls Make Graves - Stream their stuff here!

Early in their career they were compared to the sound of At The Drive-In, however they have evolved into something much different and more unique. Sure that guy yelling in the background sounds like Jim Wards impassioned intonations but sonically they are more restrained and far more dense. Despite their punkier roots, vocalist Andrea Zollo's voice is smooth as silk behind PGMG's off-kilter, frenetic soundscape. Their new album Elan Vital is out today in the US, not too sure when the Aussie release is. Stay Tuned.

Amber Savage @ Bloc Penrith - Saturday 15th April

This smoking hot DJ has been Queen of the Sydney dance scene for several years now, spinning tunes from the harder end of the electronic spectrum. She recently released the fantastic Central Energy compilation with the incredible Archie and Baby Gee to much acclaim and she will take her trademark sounds west to give Bloc a lesson in dance music. The WBDF crew will be there going nuts to her so we will see you there! (If she turns up lolz office joke)

I know its ladies week but the people must know!

Welcome all again to whiteboydancefloor!

Two words for you good people of blogger land... "Jock Jams". Anyone heard?

Well if you like me and have only just discovered it, it is just another fantastically pointless reason that typifies why America should be getting its shit into order before it goes starting any wars.

Jock Jams are albums released by Toyboy Records in the mid 1990's which featured all those songs that if you ever heard the music playing at an NBA or NFL match. Ridiculously cheesy yet catchy "you want me baby baby" songs. Never would anyone, not even americans be caught dancing to this stuff, unless theyre at an american sporting event, which somehow makes it all acceptable.

Long story shorter... some genius has made a myspace page out of it. http://www.myspace.com/jockjams333
The entire Jock Jams series really culminated in the halariously brilliant mega mix featured on the myspace profile, so click away and crack up!!!

whitegirldancefloor - Germaine Greer would love it

This week we will be bringing you the best foxy ladies who are rocking, singing, spinning and charming us right now.

Howling Bells MySpace Profile

Howling Bells are a Sydney collective making some top-notch indie rock and taking on the world at the same time. Led by the foxy Juanita Stien, these precocious rockers swagger along in rollocking fashion with Juanitas voice shifting between grace and near abrasion. Imagine, this is what bands like Waikiki and Little Birdy could have been, but no.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion (Nick Zinner Remix).mp3

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs seem to be the biggest thing the planet right now. 'Show Your Bones' is garnering huge praise and on the first single 'Gold Lion', Karen-O is kicking some serious grrl power ass. Its nothing complex, just a well executed piece of rock that is as catchy as the 'flu. Check out YYY's drummer Nick Zinner's remix of 'Gold Lion'; it stomps all over the original with some heavy industrial beats and cool vocal loops.

We are back......and confused

Ok what a crazy week for whiteboydancefloor. We moved, and now we moved back.

Lets get to the music....

Its been a couple of weeks since we last posted anything, so boy do we have some greatness here for you now.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Beirut MySpace Profile

Beirut are a band that i stumbled apon a few weeks back and they took my breath away. Such beautifuly charming folk comes out of them by way of some stunning instrumentation. Vocally they croon along effortlessly, weaving in and out of accordians resonating with trumpets, percussion and the unchessiest ukelele work you will hear.

Stream new T.I. album here

Atlanta's hotest rap export, T.I., is back with a new album entitled 'King'. T.I ups the ante here, delivering his rhymes over some hot beats and some fantastic instrumental melodies. The album went straight to number 1 in the US and sold 522, 000 copies in its first week. For some reason down under he isnt well recognised, trust me that will all change soon.

Dert Myspace Profile

Just when you thought the mash-up was dead, it is. But, there is one exception. I dont think there has been a more hyped hip-hop release this year than this one, but LA producer Dert has released the album 'Sometimes I Rhyme Slow' which seems to be living up to the hype. Common, Kanye West, Erikah Badu and MF Doom rhymes are stirred through Jose Gonzales' instrumentation to create a mix tape that is so flawless, you could barely tell these were mash-ups at all.

Sorry wbdf-ers

if you can actually see the page, which im sure you cant, blogger has stuffed up the site and most of our readers cant see the site and havent been able to for nearly 3 weeks. Its a joke and despite the fact this is a free service, blogger need to ensure they respect their users and advertisers who have brought to them their vast fortune and Google marriage. Clearly this respect isnt forthcoming, shown through their lack of communication with users and absence of any technical solutions to this widespread problem. if you can see this, go to

www.myspace.com/whiteboydancefloor

as we will be making an announcement regarding the future location of the 'dancefloor in the coming days at our myspace portal. thanks for your patience guys, wbdf will rise again and you guys will feel the music again real soon!

shake it!
Chris
